I think that if you want to find the next big thing, you need to come up with a concept that is completely different than the big 4. These sites are based on profiles, blogs, messaging, and apps. There is a new social networking site, still in beta, that has a different concept to it, competition. JoinMyChain.com is a social interaction competition with an overall goal of linking the world together through the use of photos. The idea is to create chains with photos where each subsequent photo has a common characteristic (or person). I am the founder of this site, and due to tough economical times, I cannot afford to build the site any further. This, in no way hinders the ability to create chains. I am currently looking for any way to recieve funding for my site. I have intellectual property on-hold at the moment, and many more ideas for the site that we cannot implement yet. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me from the website.

Thanks,
Multi-B

I suggest checking out eZanga.com's recently launched social network, www.HopOnThis.com. It's a little bit different from other social networks because they integrate a rewards program allowing members to accumulate points and win prizes for their social activity on the site. Of course not as big as Facebook, MySpace or Twitter, but I believe it has the potential to become the next best thing.
