Images leaked on the internet show what could be the new design for the upcoming iPhone 5 and it appears as though Apple has moved towards a sleeker design that features a metallic frame.
The latest version of the iPhone is expected to be released later this year and is widely believed to be sporting a larger display as Apple attempts to claw back some of the market that has been taken by Samsung and their large screen Galaxy S3. The iPhone will come with a 4-inch display and, according to Jermey Howitz of iLounge, “The new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S.” The leaked photos also seem to show a pinhole connector, which would tie in with rumours that Apple is ditching the 30 pin connector used for attaching the USB cable.
While Apple has yet to offer any confirmation regarding features of the new handset, the internet has been awash with rumours. The iPhone 5 is one of the most eagerly awaited smartphones with many people expecting to see design changes that they had anticipated would come with the 4s when it was released last year. Howitz added, “Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm—a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width.”
It is also believed that the new iPhone will be accompanied by a new iPad, also expected to be released this year.
