Keepaboo Online Baby Books

Submitted by Craig Agranoff on Sunday, 7 December 2008 View Comments

New parents know the excitement of having a child and how picture-crazy and scrapbook-happy it can make you become. The problem with traditional scrapbooks is that they can’t be easily copied and passed around to friends and family. Online picture services like Photobucket just don’t cut the mustard either.

Keepaboo hopes to change all that. The service is an online baby Lifebook in which parents can organize photos, write amusing stories or first words, and use baby-oriented designs and graphics to create an online, 3-dimensional scrap book.

It can be updated and changed anytime, is accessible to anyone you wish to send a link to, and best of all it’s FREE.

The site is extremely easy to use and really does what it promises. It definitely impressed me. From the cute, scrapbooky cover design to the beautiful layout options for photos and the fun ways you can manipulate and change photos and text to make them unique, I actually had a good time making a sample scrapbook to try out. Since he was handy, I took web-cam photos of my dog for my test.

Whether furry or human, your baby’s scrapbook will look great when you’re done. The pages use Flash animations to “turn” the pages and simple effects like artificial shading and such to create a three-dimensional feel. It works well, especially considering the site is entirely browser-based (no software downloads).

Their privacy policy is solid, so your child’s photos aren’t going to become Keepaboo’s property. Their revenue plan isn’t well defined, but will have to do with the future ability to have your scrapbooks printed professionally for you.

Overall, this is a great site and useful for new, excited parents. If you’re tired of the same-old scrapbooks or just aren’t crafty enough to make your own, maybe Keepaboo can do it for you.
