Language Translation On The iPhone With iTranslate App

Submitted by Craig Agranoff on Wednesday, 22 October 2008 5 Comments

A new iPhone application development team from Austria launched a must have app for those who travel.  Outer Space Apps has unveiled their new iTranslate application for the iPhone.  This helpful app is available free on the iTunes store.

Mainly, I use Google language translation when searching the web, or looking for what a word means on the fly.  Unfortunately, Google does not offer an easy way to translate on my iPhone.  So when I travel down to parts of Miami and find myself thinking I have landed somewhere in South America, I am pretty much screwed if I need anything.  This is where iTranslate steps in.  iTranslate is an incredibly easy to use app specific to the iPhone.

By using the API of Google Translation, iTranslate offers two-way translation between sixteen languages.  The languages currently inclue Bulgarian, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.  They plan on rolling out many other languages in the future.

Tranlastion is a breeze, and all you have to do is type a word or a phrase, and then select the language you want to translate from on the left panel of the screen, and then in the right panel  choose which language you want the word or phrase translated into and hit Search.  Yes it is actually this simple.  The app is also intelligent enough to save your most recent word or phrase so you can translate it into other languages without having to type again.

Excellent work Outer Space Apps, we look forward to seeing your future work!
