Memiary The Next Step In Online Diaries

Touting itself as the “next step in the evolution of personal diaries online,” Memiary.com is different than the usual online diary sites: blogs, Facebook, etc. I’m personally a big MySpace fan, but only because of the Apps and my horrible addiction to them, not due to any kind of diary keeping or even social networking, really. Memiary is different than that.

I was dubious about this when it was sent to me and thought it would be just another crappy blog site. I was surprised to find it’s not. In fact, the About Us page is a personal note from Sid Yadav, the guy who built the site detailing why he did so and it lacks the polish or marketing sheen that most of these pages have–it’s honest.

The title of the site, Memiary, is a combination of the words “Memory” and “Diary.” The site itself is extremely simple to use and so Google-like in its page loads that I can actually use it from my cell phone, which is Web-enabled but not exactly a Palm.

It’s basically a five line online form that you fill out (once a day or every so often, whatever) with quick notes on what you did today, how you feel, whatever you’d like. It stores this information in a bullet-point-like diary online. You can post five thoughts per day and then easily go back through and view them by day, month, year, etc.

While I may not use this site every day, as I’m a dedicated procrastinator, I will probably use it regularly. It is, after all, quick and easy and not at all like writing in a real diary or posting to a boring online blog that no one reads. It’s…well…Memiary.

If you read the premise of it on http://www.rev2.org you will see how the creator thought about it and made it in a weekend. You don't have to like it of course but you have to applaud sid for getting an idea out of his head and onto the web. It is quite inspiring
