Mezzoman – Meeting in the Middle No Matter the Distance

mezzoman.pngHere’s a common problem: with all of our busy lives, with the expense of travel, and so forth, it’s not always easy to get together. Usually, when we meet with friends and family, we go to them or they come to us. Mezzoman hopes to make these meetings take place by splitting the difference and meeting at a central location to both parties.

Mezzoman is a purely map-driven Web app that combines starting locations with popular destinations (restaurants, attractions, bars, etc.) to find the middle ground. Let’s say you live in the Denver, Colorado area and have a friend who works nearby as well and would like to meet up to catch up on each other.

Your work is in Aurora and your friend is in Boulder. Do you drive all the way up there? Do they drive all the way to you? Either way is a bum deal because anyone who’s been to Denver knows that during the day, the common routes between these two points are crowded, to say the least.

You agree to meet for dinner after work and shoot for Mexican food. Mezzoman tells you that the middle ground is Westminster and that there are four Mexican restaurants to choose from (assuming Taco Bell is “Mexican food”). OK, so there are three restaurants to choose from.

It’s likely that this will half both your travel times and save you both time and money to meet up. Even better, Mezzoman now has a Facebook app (still in beta) to make this even easier for you and your friends to use.

While this isn’t the first application of this type we’ve reviewed here, it’s probably the best of the group we’ve looked at so far. It’s easier to use, doesn’t require a login or username, and links with Facebook and will likely link with other social apps soon too.

It’s completely free to use and the only concern I can see is where they’ll be monetizing. My guess is with the already-present AdWords (and possible future ads) on the site’s results page. Regardless, it’s well worth trying and useful.

Checked out Mezzoman, it's ok. I like a site that provides a similar service called Meetways.com better. The site is easier to use and also they have an iphone app that is pretty cool. Check it out.
