MySpace Falls Behind Twitter in Unique Visitor Numbers

MyspaceWith the continued success and expansion of Twitter, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Now MySpace has fallen prey to Twitter’s increased amount of traffic, even though the actual increase has been a relatively small one.

All in all the difference between the two sites was marginal. When you are talking about visitor numbers ranking close to the one hundred million mark, a difference of just one million between the two isn’t really very much. But overall the difference seems to have been created in two ways.

Firstly MySpace has been stagnating somewhat as far as traffic is concerned. Conversely Twitter has been doing much better, resulting in it taking over from MySpace in terms of the total number of unique visitors it has been receiving over the last few months.

It doesn’t take much work to realise that the biggest news and buzz around at the moment is circling around Twitter. MySpace seems relatively quiet in comparison. Twitter has undergone an overhaul on its actual site, with lots of other improvements on the way as well. It is also experimenting with advertising and promoted accounts on its site. In contrast any news that has surfaced about MySpace has tended to focus on the people using it, rather than any new developments about the site itself.

As such we can reasonably expect Twitter to continue going from strength to strength as far as traffic is concerned. Perhaps MySpace will have some more catching up to do.
