Orchestrate is project management, which isn’t exactly a new idea. What is new is the way that this app does it. Or displays it, I should say.
Like most project management apps, the usual information you have to enter to track a job has to be input into the app. Once they’re in there, though, you’re shown a graphical spreadsheet that shows projects, tasks, and bars showing how far along those tasks and projects are.
Organizations, other project team members, and more are all tracked and included and anyone who’s authorized can update or change information on the projects or tasks they’re assigned to. For team work, this is awesome.
Comments and notes can be included and clicking on any project or task will show a link to those as well as other information, as needed, such as client information, URLs, other team members, and such.
Now for the other thing that sets this one apart: it’s focused on location-based tasks/projects rather than virtual ones. While this can be easily tuned towards websites or URLs, it’s meant to be aimed at buildings, addresses, cities, etc. Perfect for the professional who’s job is to go place and meet clients or do the work in real life.
Sales professionals, installers, service-based businesses, etc. will find this highly useful and a nice step away from the usual developer-oriented task management tools that proliferate the Web.
Pricing is free for up to five users on up to two projects and goes up in increments from there. Most will probably sign up for the Small package at $19/month which includes five projects and unlimited users.
This is an extremely easy to learn site app and very well made for its task. If you’re a developer or development/design team looking for a PM app, this one probably won’t quite fit. If you’re a service or location-based professional, however, this one’s definitely worth trying.
