Real Life Boob Tube Victoria’s Secret Goes Mobile
Where do more Victoria’s Secret catalogs live: In the magazine racks of young professional ladies, or beside the toilets and TVs in frat houses and construction trailers?
We’re leaning toward the latter. And we’re betting the same might be true of the lingerie queen’s new mobile channel broadcast via FLO TV, a service which allows wireless phone users to watch real TV shows in real time.
The Victoria’s Secret Channel 24/7 feed is basically a marketing campaign promoting its Dec. 3 fashion show, which airs in primetime on CBS. And the programming includes “behind-the-scenes footage of the planning, the prepping – and the primping.” Very secretive, indeed. (Shhh…)
There are a few asterisks standing beside the new service. For starters, only Verizon and AT&T customers are eligible. In addition, fees may apply. And finally, I had a little trouble bringing up the service from the FLO TV website from multiple browsers. But heck, maybe millions of frat boys were trying to cue it up at the same time.
Any time you can get potential customers to be held captive audience to what’s basically your branding and advertising camouflaged as T&A-laced entertainment, it’s a good thing. That is, if Victoria can manage to actually draw some ladies to her mobile teet, or at least convince the gentlemen viewers that their gals will look just as good as the legit models in the those snug cotton panties.
Oh yeah, and if you decide to tune in, be sure not to skimp on a quality magnifying glass.
