Scrumd.com: Agile Team Project Management

scrumd_logo_medium1Most team-oriented project management apps can be categorized in two ways: cumbersome and bulky projects in themselves or chat boxes with little functionality.

The goal of a good multi-user project application, of course, is to hit the middle mark between the two: easy usability and useful functionality. It’s rare that this actually happens, but Scrum’d seems to have pulled it off. The site says that its aim is to let users “focus on managing their projects, not their tools.” It definitely does that.

Most of the functions in Scrum’d revolve around simple drag-drop and inline editing. Unlimited participants means that the scrumd.jpgproject can be as large or as small as needed with as much input as desired from various users.

In fact, the entire site app is extremely intuitive with a very short learning curve. Since most functions are based on simple time lines and nearly everything is accomplished through drag-and-drop, the app is quickly understood by anyone who’s used a project management tool of any kind before.

Sprints can be added easily for those last-minute or “want it done yesterday” parts of the project and time tracking is also inherent to the system through both estimation (at line/story creation) and real-time use.

Overall, Srum’d is a great tool for agile team management, though it’s a little oversized for the single user or very small project shop. It includes a free thirty-day trial to get acquainted with it and find out if it’s right for your team. Prices depend on the number of projects you want to be able to track. For $6/month you can track one project and for $14 you can track 3. The largest package is $79 and includes 50 projects. All plans have unlimited users and SSL security.
