The Proofing Is In The Pudding With Colaab

picture-5Good content can be the difference between hack graffiti and a winning guerilla marketing campaign.

Any content producer, editor or stakeholder has been through the pains of creating a slick and polished final product. From days of edits and hours of rewrites to indecipherable notations and heads butting over moot points, it can be a migraine you need to waste a sick day over. Microsoft Word tracking tools are a confusing, chicken-scratched revisions are a joke, and edits dictated over the phone are unreliable.

Colaab hopes to serve up an over-the-counter remedy. The site and service allows content stakeholders to collaborate on “Resources” in a real-time environment - shaping copy, graphics, video and other content without sorting through endless versions of edits and tweaks. The intuitive interface helps you get from rough draft to final product with minimal interference and maximum convenience. If your team is a mish-mash of consultants, freelancers and telecommuters traversing the globe, just imagine the time savings colaab might bring.

Colaab offer three tiered packages, ranging from $25 to $99, with increasing levels of storage capacity, security, users and more. You can even test-drive the application for 30 days at no cost.

I don’t know if it’s an ironic Easter egg or just a lack of detail, but colaab is disturbingly littered with typos…and a few broken or at least misleading links. Some of the copy almost seems penned by a non-native English speaker. But who knows, maybe they use their own site for practical editing demos. Or maybe the creators just didn’t let their start-up sit long enough in the oven. It’s not the kind of gaffe that should distract potential users, but as someone in that demographic, it sadly does.

Mike. This is supposed to be for design review, but guess what... designers use Macs and this doesn't work on the Mac OS. It uses Silverlight which is Microsoft's Flash equivalent. Guess this guys need to target a different market.

Thanks for the review! We've worked hard on colaab and think we've produced a really useful service.

I'd like to add that we also offer a completely free package that has 50MB of storage and 1 workspace so you can really start using the service with absolutely no commitment.

Thanks for the feedback on the marketing site, it's very valuable. All of the content is going through a spelling and grammar check as I write this and we're testing every link goes where it should.

    Thanks,

    Bob
