Ubidesk – Online Team Collaboration

ubidesk.pngTeam collaboration, project management, or managing far-flung team members is all the same basic task: trying to keep everyone on the same page at the same time doing the same things without needlessly repeating yourself. It’s as complicated as it is hard to explain.

Luckily, now that the Web is maturing, a lot of online, collaborative apps have appeared to fill this role. Ubidesk.com is one of those apps, specializing specifically in team collaboration and management.

This collaborative app offers document, task, calendar, and file collaboration, among other things. Dynamic projects, team or group notifications, and task management are also part of this app. For the small to medium team or business, it’s got what most will need to get the job done.

It doesn’t focus on designers, developers, or specific IT or tech work, as many similar apps do, and so it is better suited to the more general enterprise. Marketing, academia, and other teams might find this a more useful app than others that are geared towards tech.

Ubidesk allows teams to track multiple projects and tasks and runs on a secured https connection. One of the real bonuses with this software is its useful document collaboration tools with time lines, editing marks, and undo/redo features for document updates and changes.

Projects can be hidden from non-team members, opened to the public group of your entire collaboration, or protected from reading and editing by everyone but yourself. Muliple levels of “security clearance” allow you to specify who has access to what and what or how things can be changed and by whom. This gives a breadth of security for, say, multiple-input academic collaborations wherein several have comment abilities, but few have the ability to make actual changes.

Overall, the app is definitely worth checking out. Ubidesk is free to try and use while in its Beta form.

    Hi Craig,

I'm the co-founder of a company which has recently released it's first product, SambaJAM. I would like to provide you with a free account so that you can have a look. It's a very Web 2.0 application designed to feel like a desktop app.

I dropped an email to the contact us email address but I'm not sure if you will get it, so I thought I'd leave you a comment as well 🙂

If you want to sign-up in your own time, you can do so at http://www.sambajam.com

Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Ale
