VerbApp: Managing Time Flexibly

Submitted by Herb Tabin on Wednesday, 22 April 2009 4 Comments

verb-site_logoYep, yet another time management application. This time, though (HA!), it’s a little different. Verb is aimed directly at freelancers and small teams, especially designers and coders. It focuses directly on maximizing performance (in tasks) and it does this pretty well.

It also allows you to open up your task lists to other Verb users for collaboration without losing control over those tasks. This not only allows you to work in small teams collaboratively, but it also allows you to “advertise” to others what your current projects are. Does anyone else see a back-end marketing tool here?

The features are clearly marked, easily understood, and almost all optional. It’s very flexible for this kind of app, but not so flexible as to require too much effort to make it do the simple things. Most professionals, especially freelancers, will find Verb to be useful in one way or another. It’s not a fits-all tool, though, so it might not be good for everyone.

The service itself is free, so you have little to lose signing up and giving it a shot. It’s worth looking into for the task sharing and simple collaboration tools alone.

Once again: Verb is extremely single-user oriented. If you’re looking for team management, heavy collaboration tools, or robust client-sharing project management, Verb isn’t your answer. For the freelancer who doesn’t need a lot of pomp and circumstance to their task management, though, this is a good option.
