Although invoicing and payment tracking apps are nothing new to the Web, WorkingPoint.com offers a little more than just your standard invoicing app. WorkingPoint offers most of the features you expect from a decent invoicing suite, but is also partnered with VerticleResponse to allow for email communications management with your clients.
If you’re using or have used a recent version of QuickBooks, you will understand how WorkingPoint works. It’s layout and use is very similar, though most of the complexities of QuickBooks are not on WorkingPoint, making for an easier user interface.
You login through a secure URL and are presented with a simple dashboard with quick links to everything you need to create or manage invoices. Current (outstanding) invoices are displayed as are those which were recently paid. The dashboard can be customized to position things where you’d prefer or to remove things you don’t normally use.
You can import any spreadsheet file as well as client contact info from most popular email address books. You can use your current invoicing software (such as QuickBooks or a spreadsheet) to import information about products or services. These can be further customized into template invoices that you might commonly use or that you use regularly with a specific client.
The learning curve for utilizing WorkingPoint is very low and it doesn’t take long to be using it like a pro. Your invoices are sent to clients, who can view them (and past invoices via WorkingPoint) online at any time. They are given a specific login for doing so and it’s done through a secured connection.
The integration with VerticalResponse is not seamless and the two apps work as separate entities, though they do share some information. You get 200 email credits with VR when you sign up with WP and 500 more if you upgrade your account.
WorkingPoint is priced well for the niche. The free account allows two users and up to five clients, though premium reports and tax information are not available for free. The Premium account that includes everything plus unlimited users and clients is only $10/month, which is well within the budget of most anyone who’ll find WorkingPoint useful.
Definitely worth a try if you’re in the market for an easy to use invoicing suite.
