Yammer Receives Best of Show at TechCrunch50

Submitted by Craig Agranoff on Thursday, 11 September 2008 No Comment

The top honors of TechCrunch50 have been awarded to yammer.  Yammer is basically a twitter site for businesses.  Anyone in the tech community has most likely used twittter at some point, and most of us everyday (my user name is Lapp).

Yammer was created by Geni.  Users will sign up for the microblogging business service, with their corporate email address.  Based on recent stats from yammer, over 10,000 people have already signed up from 2,000 organizations, for this business app since they launched on Monday!

In order to win the “best of breed” type of award from TechCruch50, yammer had to beat out just over 50 other services/sites.  This is a great way for a business to allow its employees to communicate with each other in a fast and secured way.  Yammer does charge a company to claim its users and grant admin control over them.  As with everything awesome in life, it comes with a price.  Congrats Yammer!
