Bitcoin was trading at $80,794.0, down $818 after earlier rebounding from around $76,400 during a volatile week
Bitcoin slipped 1% to $80,794 on Sunday, giving back some of its weekend gains as broader cryptocurrency markets turned lower despite renewed institutional demand through U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds.
Bitcoin was trading at $80,794.0, down $818 at 17:07 GMT after earlier rebounding from around $76,400 during a volatile week. The cryptocurrency remains above the $80,000 level, but the latest decline points to renewed selling pressure across the broader market.
U.S. Bitcoin ETFs attracted $433.03 million on Sept. 18, led by Fidelity’s FBTC with $310.72 million. BlackRock’s IBIT received $108.44 million, Bitwise’s BITB added $9.69 million, and VanEck’s HODL and Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB recorded smaller inflows.
The buying marked a stronger finish to a volatile week for Bitcoin. ETF trading value reached $4.67 billion on Friday, with combined net assets rising by more than $7 billion to $102.53 billion.
Demand extended into other digital assets. Ether ETFs recorded $143.80 million of net inflows, and Solana funds attracted $47.62 million. Zcash products added $37.67 million, suggesting institutional demand was not confined to Bitcoin.
Macro conditions remain an important influence on crypto markets. Higher government bond yields, inflation concerns and geopolitical tensions have contributed to volatility across risk assets.
Regulatory developments could also shape sentiment. The U.S. Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act on Sept. 15, leaving broader U.S. crypto market legislation unresolved.
Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor argued that the industry can continue expanding through existing regulatory channels rather than waiting for comprehensive legislation. He pointed to bank custody, Bitcoin-backed lending, stablecoins and digital credit as areas that could support wider adoption.
Saylor said the industry’s longer-term opportunity lies in getting digital financial products into the hands of millions of users, arguing that widespread adoption could create a stronger foundation for crypto.
