The new options will make it easier to manage your Facebook data, and take it with you
Facebook is making some changes to its Transfer Your Information tool to make it easier for users to download their info stored with Facebook, and transfer it to other platforms.
Facebook said: To provide people with choice and control over their data, we’ve spent the last few months rebuilding our data portability tool from the ground up. These updates include user experience improvements, two new destinations: Photobucket and Google Calendar, and one new data type: Facebook Events.
The Transfer Your Information tool includes an improved User Interface (UI), making it easier to see all of your data transfer options, while it’s also added dedicated date range tools and other options to control your data transfers.
The new options will make it easier to manage your Facebook data, and take it with you if you choose. Some time ago if one wanted to transfer data, events had to be left behind and in many cases this was a limiting factor for users. Integration with Google Calendar has made this no longer the case.
Now, if you have an account on the social network, you will not lose photos or activity from events. Photobucket is a service capable of storing videos, images and slideshows.
When transferring the multimedia files, they will be stored there, although Facebook also allows you to save these elements in Google Photos, Dropbox and WordPress. The curious thing about all this is the theme of the events, as it was the pending task on the part of Facebook.
Facebook launched the first stage of its data portability tools in December 2019, with an option to transfer your Facebook photos and videos over to Google Photos for storage and re-use. Facebook then expanded this to include Dropbox and Koofr as export options as well, before then further extending its data transfer options to include Facebook posts and notes too.
