Most altcoins are marginally in the red today, with ETH dropping $1,800 and XRP settling between $0.5 and $0,55.
The original crypto currency dipped on Monday to $26,500 as the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission sued the world’s biggest digital asset exchange – Binance – and its Chief Executive Officer – Changpeng Zhao (CZ). Bitcoin stayed below and near $27,000 for a day or two, but the bulls reminded of their presence mid-week.
They forced the asset upwards, resulting in a price soar to more than $29,000 on Thursday. Though, that was short-lived as bitcoin failed to keep up or even stay at the same levels. It started losing value rapidly and went back down to $28,000 hours later.
The past 24 hours brought more pain as the crypto currency declined further to below $27,600. It has rebounded since then but still sits below $28,000.
Its market capitalization has dropped to $535bln. Its dominance over the altcoins has also taken a hit and is down to 46 per cent after soaring past 46.5 per cent yesterday.
Ripple’s native token has been among the leading performers during the past few weeks, possibly powered by speculation about positive developments in the firm’s legal case against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This rally led XRP 60 per cent higher weekly at one time. The asset has now eventually calmed on a daily scale and stands near $0,55.
Ethereum, Binance Coin, Dogecoin, and Shiba Inu are with slight losses, while MATIC, SOL, and LTC have rebounded by up to 3 per cent in a day. In contrast, ADA, DOT, TRX, and AVAX have posted trivial gains.
HBAR is the top performer among the mid-cap altcoins, having soared by 9 per cent and trading at $0.07.
With most other mid- and lower-cap altcoins charting slight declines, the overall crypto market cap has seen $30bln gone in a day.
