The Dragon Fruit upgrade also addresses RLP parsing, rectifying a noncritical bug related to transaction parsing and strengthening the network’s overall reliability and security
Polygon, a scaling solution compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), achieved an important breakthrough with its Dragon Fruit upgrade (ForkID5) on Wednesday. The upgrade introduces support for Ethereum’s latest opcode, PUSH0, a feature that promises developers seamless cross-platform work and extends possibilities for decentralized applications (dApps).
The Dragon Fruit upgrade also addresses RLP parsing, rectifying a noncritical bug related to transaction parsing and strengthening the network’s overall reliability and security. The meticulous attention to detail shows Polygon’s dedication to providing a robust environment for developers and users.
Apart from these developments, the Polygon network has reached an important benchmark with the commencement of the Polygon 2.0 implementation. The first set of Polygon Improvement Proposals (PIPs), totalling three, outlines upcoming changes that will begin in early Q4 of 2023. PIP-18 takes centre stage as it defines Phase 0 of Polygon 2.0.
This phase encompasses a number of important changes, including the shift from MATIC to POL as the native gas and staking token for Polygon PoS, along with the initiation of the staking layer and ensuing migration. These changes mark a vital evolution of the Polygon network, positioning it for further growth and development.
The native token of the protocol, MATIC, has displayed a modest performance. Over the past two days, MATIC has stayed within a range-bound price range, presently trading at $0.5377. Nonetheless, MATIC has experienced substantial gains over the last seven days, with a 5.9% rise.
In another significant development, Polygon and Uniswap may soon collaborate if a proposal for a “friendly fork” between Uniswap DAO and Zero Protocol on Polygon zkEVM gains community approval. This initiative could result in exciting synergies between these leading players in the blockchain space.
