Bathurst customers will be able track the arrival of their bus in real-time as new technology rolls out on buses across regional New South Wales (NSW) in Australia.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole said technology rolling out on 55 buses in Bathurst would allow customers to track the location of a bus, its estimated arrival at a stop, and how full the bus is.

We’ve already rolled this technology out in 10 regional centres, and to expand that to Bathurst will allow even more customers to see exactly when their bus will be arriving, Mr Toole said.

For mums and dads, it will help them track the arrival of the school bus and for passengers – whether students or adults – it means less time waiting at the stop and more time at your destination, he said.

The launch of this technology is a huge step forward for people travelling in regional areas, and shows our ongoing commitment to help make public transport a first-choice option for people living in the regions, he said.

Mr Toole said six different operators will be rolling out the technology across 20 regular routes and 73 school routes.

The data collected from the program will also assist operators and Transport for NSW with how to improve services into the future, Mr Toole said.

Bathurst Buslines, Newman’s Bus Service, Conroy’s Bus Service, Sinclair Buses, Mutton and Martin and DW & KL Reynolds buses will use the new technology.

The Transport Connected Bus program has already been rolled out to Armidale, Bega, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Forbes, Grafton, Parkes, Queanbeyan, Tweed Heads and Wagga Wagga.
