At the Samsung Forum, held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, Malta, Samsung Electronics announced the European launch of its 2020 line up of TV and sound devices.

The European launch includes flagship Q950TS QLED 8K TV, expanded range of QLED 8K and 4K, MicroLED, Lifestyle TVs and soundbars.

Offering a unique, immersive viewing experience, Samsung’s 2020 flagship Q950TS QLED 8K TV combines pristine picture and sound quality with intelligent AI capabilities and premium design.

Available to Europe in 65-, 75-, and 85-in, the TV has an edge-to-edge picture through the revolutionary Infinity Screen, which delivers 99% screen to body ratio.

The Q950TS has a slim 15mm profile with six built-in speakers to create the immersive experience.

As well as the Q950TS, Samsung also announced the European release of the Q900T and Q800T, expanding its range of QLED 8K TVs, all available in sizes ranging from 55- to 98-in.

Continuing as a major part of Samsung’s overall TV portfolio, the company also announced a series of QLED 4K TVs.

This year is said to be Samsung’s strongest QLED 4K line up to date, with the launch of Q60T, Q70T, Q80T, Q90T and Q95T models, available in sizes from 43- to 85-in.

We are in a new era of intelligent display; this year will bring even more demand for TV personalisation, said Nathan Sheffield, head of TV and sound devices, Samsung Europe. Our 2020 TV and sound device line up is our strongest, smartest and most immersive yet, catering to a variety of lifestyles without the need for compromise.

Picture and sound quality have always been the foundation to Samsung’s QLED TVs, but this year the company taken it a step further with enhanced ‘Smart Screen’ AI capabilities. Unique to Samsung, the 2020 line-up includes a range of features to enhance the viewing experience.

Firstly, Quantum Dot AI was used to combine Samsung’s 8K content processor with the Tizen platform to upscale content. Regardless of source or current resolution, content can now be displayed across 33 million pixels.

Adaptive Picture technology is used to analyse light conditions as well as the content on the screen to ensure perfect picture quality, regardless of if it’s in a bright or dark room.

To prevent distraction from background noise when watching TV, Active Voice Amplifier is used to automatically recognise interruptions and adjust voice clarity accordingly.

Objecting Tracking Sound+ (OTS+) creates a 3D sound effect by combining the multiple speakers on the top, side and bottom of the TV with a proprietary AI algorithm. OTS+ perfectly matches audio with the on-screen action.

Finally, Q-Symphony is a unique multi-speaker implementation, and for the first time ever, 2020 QLED TVs will keep the top and side speakers active when attaching a Samsung Q Series soundbar to give richer, fuller surround sounds.

To create a completely immersive experience for homeowners, Samsung has also unveiled a new range of soundbars to complement the new TVs.

The 2020 European Q Series line-up includes Q800T, Q70T and Q60T, and creates the ultimate synergy with QLED TV.

Utilising Samsung’s Acoustic Beam technology and integrated object-based audio by Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, Q Series creates a captivating, immersive viewing experience.

Taking this further, Samsung has also launched the new S Series – S60T and S40T. They provide a powerful standalone performance in a stylish and smart design to fit into any room in the house.

Samsung is continuing to develop and expand partnerships with content providers to give consumers more viewing content choices. Disney+ is the latest partnership that is currently being rolled out across Europe and is available on Samsung TVs.

Also announced at the Forum was a host of new connectivity features to allow consumers to use their screens in a variety of ways.

Multi-View can be used by consumers who frequently use other devices when watching TV. The feature allows users to extend their mobile device to the bigger screen, with the flexibility to choose between 14 different layout options for two windows.

A similar feature, Tap View makes it easy to for users to mirror their smartphone screen to the TV by touching the two devices together.

Samsung has also announced the European launch of a series of lifestyle TVs. The new Sero TV can be rotated between horizontal and vertical orientations, like a smartphone. This allows consumers to enjoy various types of content in different orientations.

The Serif, Samsung’s design-first TV, will be available this year in 43-, 49-, and 55-in models in two new colours – Cloud White and Cotton Blue.

Concluding Samsung’s lifestyle TV range is The Frame. New this year, it is available in 32- and 75-in models as well as the existing screen sizes already available.

Designed to appear as a piece of art when not in use, The Frame’s Art Store is now able to suggest artwork in line with the specific tastes of the owner using its new AI-based auto-curation feature.

Last but not least, the Samsung Forum saw the introduction of its full line up of innovative MicroLED TVs. The modular technology has no limits when it comes to size, ratio, bezel and resolution.
